you do remember that he basically raised sam, used to comfort his mother when she and his dad fought, and comforted his dad when john came home from hunts hurt and tired, and always does great with kid characters, and is secretly kind of a woobie underneath all that macho bullshitting, right

^^ Those comments are exactly right!! I don’t understand how someone who has watched the show at all could say that Dean is not a caretaker. He is a caretaker above all else! That is what drives him on to do all the alpha male bullshit!

His need to take care of people (not just those he loves, but every other person on the planet) was established right from episode 1. He was the one who came to get Sam to help him look for John. If he didn’t want to protect and take care of Sam, why the hell did he make the deal with the crossroads demon? Why does he hunt? If he didn’t love and want to take care of Lisa and Ben, why did he have Cas take their memories? And how do demons know exactly how to get at Dean (and Sam for that matter) if he didn’t want to take care of his brother?

If you don’t think Dean is a caretaker then you are clearly watching a different show. Dean’s caretaker personality is one of the driving forces for the entire show.
