I know that there are horrible things happening in London. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone over there. I hope that the rioting ends soon. that people get through this terrible time without injury and the fires and looting are stopped before they do more damage.

But this post really has nothing to do with that. This post is about the sactimonious posts that are ALL over tumblr tonight. The ones saying that we aren’t allowed to be excited/frustrated/eager for our Pottermore welcome letters. The ones designed to make us feel guilty for posting about anything other than the riots.

To that I say - bullshit!

I, like most people on the planet, am capable of having multiple thoughts and feelings all at the same time. Just because I am eager to get my welcome letter doesn’t mean that I am not also following the news reports about the riots and praying for the people of London. I can be excited about one thing and concerned about another.

And for good measure, I’m going to throw a third emotion into the mix. I’m also pissed off at people preaching at me. Who gave you the right to tell me what I should be posting about in my tumblr? And how dare you assume that I am not thinking about the tragedy that is unfolding over in London because I am anxious to get on to Pottermore (a magical place where we can all sink into the world we love so much and forget - just for a little while- about the horrors that fill our screens when we watch the news, read the paper or turn to news sites).You deal with your emotions in your way, and I’ll deal with them in my own.

Get over yourselves. Preaching to the rest of tumblr about the riots is ridiculous and does nothing more than make you look like a pompous ass. People are allowed to have their own emotions. They can blog about whatever they damn well want. If you don’t want to read about Pottermore emails, then don’t follow people who are posting about it. And don’t stalk the Pottermore tag. It’s an easy fix.

Again, rhis post is not about the riots, this is about the self righteous attitude I’m seeing all over tumblr tonight. I do hope there is a speedy resolution to the riots and I hope those responsible for the damages are brought to justice. And I pray for those who have lost so much and for those dealing with the fear of being caught in what is essentially a war zone right now.  I wish for safety and peace of mind to everyone going through this.
